Book and film
Many books have been adapted for film. In many cases both the book and the film are nice to read and watch. Here is a selection of books and movies that I like.

This year the Kranks are skipping Christmas. With their daughter away they don't feel like it. They feel more like a trip to Hawai. Who cares about what everybody else wants and expects from them?

A nice film to watch if you enjoyed the Twilight series.

The Hunger Games
by: Suzan Collins
Did you enjoy the book or even the whole series?
Now there is a film too. Can you decide which is better? The book or the movie? Currently the second part is upcoming.

Narnia
by: C.S. Lewis
So far, three books have been adapted for the screen. Beautiful movies. Read the books first and then treat yourself on the films:
The lion, the witch and the wardrobe
Prince Caspian
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

Jane Eyre
by: Charlotte Brontë
This is the classic story of Jane Eyre, a small and unloved girl and how she grows into a modern, independant woman in an age where there were few oppurtunities for women in general and poor women in particular.
This story has been adapted to the screen a number of times. The last film is from 2011, my favourite however is the BBC television series from 2006, starring Ruth Wilsonand Toby Stephens.

Pride and Prejudice
by: Jane Austen
Like "Jane Eyre" this classic story has been adapted to the screen a number of times. One of the most recent adaptations is the one from 2005 with Keira Knightley.
And the most famous one is the one from 1995 with Colin Firth. Both are nice to watch.

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief
by: Rick Riordan
Film adaptation of the first book in the famous series about children who are half Greek God and half human.
Entertaining film. However, the story of the film is not the same as the story of the book. In fact elements of book one and two have been put into this film. The second movie is in the making at the moment.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
by: Jonathan Safran Foer
Good film about an even better book.
The film is really good, but for the sake of the leangth of the film parts of the story have been edited out, which is a shame. So, if you have watched the film and haven't read the book yet: DO read the book. Enjoy the film and read the book too. It is worth it. There are different themes to be discovered and lessons to be learned.
